Call for Expressions of Interest: Marie Skłodowska-Curie Actions (MSCA) Individual Fellowships 2019
In line with the center’s strategy to promote excellence, IMDEA Networks Institute is inviting Expressions of Interest from potential international postdoctoral researchers who are interested in applying for a Marie Sklodowska-Curie Actions (MSCA) Individual Fellowship. These fellowships offer individuals the opportunity to enhance their career development and prospects through advanced training, international and intersectoral mobility. If successful, the fellowship will provide a competitive salary of about € 63,000 (before taxes), plus an additional allowance in case of family obligations, and an allocation for research and training costs.
IMDEA Networks is a leading international research center in the area of Computer Networks with a large network of collaborating partners in academia and industry. It has a proven track record of publishing at top-tier international peer-reviewed conferences and journals, and participating and executing successfully research projects funded by the European Commission and the European Parliament, e.g., Horizon 2020, by intergovernmental organizations, and by industrial partners.
Who can apply?
All expressions of interest must meet the eligibility criteria of the scheme. In particular, applicants must be Experienced Researchers (ER), at time of submission (11 September 2019); be in possession of a doctoral degree; or have at least 4 years of full-time equivalent research experience.1
Researchers cannot have resided or carried out their main activity (work, studies, etc.) in the host country (Spain) for more than 12 months in the 3 years immediately before the call deadline. The grant usually provides an allowance to cover living, mobility and family costs. In addition, the European Commission contributes to the research, training and networking costs of the fellow, as well as to the management and indirect costs of the project. The researcher may be of any nationality and no age restrictions apply. The grant is awarded and managed by the host organization and has a duration of 1 to 2 years.
Only one proposal per individual researcher may be submitted to this call.
How to express your Interest in a MSCA Individual Fellowship at IMDEA Networks
Candidates are required to read carefully the MSCA IF Guide for Applicants to ascertain eligibility, especially with regard to the mobility rules for each scheme, and then express their interest no later than Friday, 21st June 2019 at 14:00 CET, by providing:
- An updated CV (max. 2 pages plus full list of publications)
- A Research proposal summary (max. 2 pages)
- A letter of interest with the motivation to join IMDEA Networks (max. 1 page)

1 Full-Time Equivalent Research Experience is measured from the date when a researcher obtained the degree entitling him/her to embark on a doctorate (either in the country in which the degree was obtained or in the country in which the researcher is recruited), even if a doctorate was never started or envisaged.
