IMDEA Networks excels in ACM SIGCOMM 2018 organization

ACM SIGCOMM 2018 met in Budapest on August 20-25. The first visit to Eastern Europe became an unqualified success for the flagship annual conference of the ACM Special Interest Group (SIG) on Data Communication. Encompassing a variety of traditional and newly introduced events, the six-day conference program attracted about 200 more attendees than expected.

5G Research lab is on track to take factory vehicles off track

The 5TONIC co-creation and research laboratory near Madrid, Spain, has collaborated with Autonomously Guided Vehicle (AGV) specialist ASTI Mobile Robotics to launch a series of tests that demonstrate 5G technology could be used to drive AGVs around large factories without the need for pre-set routes or tracks to follow.

The 5G-CORAL project aims at delivering a convergent 5G multi-RAT access through an integrated virtualised edge and fog solution that is flexible, scalable, and interoperable with other domains including transport (fronthaul, backhaul), core and clouds. 5G-CORAL is part of the European H2020 ‘5G Infrastructure Public Private Partnership’ (5G-PPP).
