“At IMDEA Networks we focus on publishing on top journals, which gives us high visibility in the research community”

21 October 2019 -- op-net-admin

We interview one of the members of our Alumni Network, Dr. Hany Assasa. Hany obtained his PhD from IMDEA Networks and Universidad Carlos III de Madrid back in July and he is still at our institute as a Post Doc Researcher. He and Dr. Joerg Widmer have just received funding by the National Institute of Standards and Technology (NIST) of the U.S. Department of Commerce to work on a new simulator for the next generation mmWave standards.

Ralf Steinmetz new member of the Academy of Europe

16 October 2019 -- op-net-admin

Professor Dr. Ralf Steinmetz, President of IMDEA Networks’ Board of Trustees and Full Professor at the Multimedia Communications Lab (KOM) of the Technical University of Darmstadt (Germany), has been appointed member of the prestigious Academy of Europe. This appointment recognizes Steinmetz’s role as one of the world leaders in the research and development of adaptive seamless multimedia communications.

“Being able to interact with people that were interested in different facets of research made sense in the bigger picture”

23 July 2019 -- seltime-editor

We interview one of the members of our Alumni Network, Dr. Paul Patras, during his recent visit to IMDEA Networks. Paul obtained his PhD from IMDEA Networks and Universidad Carlos III de Madrid back in March 2011 and is now an Associate Professor in the School of Informatics at the University of Edinburgh, Scotland. This makes him the first member of our Alumni Network to achieve tenure.

“The Institute has visibility abroad, which gives the students the chance to grow more and become known internationally”

04 July 2019 -- seltime-editor

We interview one of the members of our Alumni Network, Dr. Elli Zavou, during her recent visit to IMDEA Networks. Elli obtained her PhD from IMDEA Networks and Universidad Carlos III de Madrid back in September 2016 and is now a Software Developer at StratioBD in Madrid.

The birth of a new discipline: Low-energy Visible Light IoT Systems

New ENLIGHT’EM project, coordinated by IMDEA Networks Institute, is set to use Visible Light Communications (VLC) technology to bring connectivity and sustainable ubiquitous communication networks to every LED bulb. New ENLIGHT’EM project, coordinated by IMDEA Networks Institute, is set to use Visible Light Communications (VLC) technology to bring connectivity and sustainable ubiquitous communication networks to every LED bulb.

Novel communications architecture for future ultra-high speed wireless networks developed by IMDEA Networks researchers

12 June 2019 -- op-net-admin

The radio frequency spectrum, the basis for wireless telecommunications, is a finite resource that needs to be managed effectively to satisfy the demands posed by the exponential growth in wireless internet access. IMDEA Networks researchers have developed a novel communications architecture for future ultrafast wireless networks that promises to achieve data rates previously only possible with optical fiber.
