Forward thinking 5G and beyond research at IMDEA Networks receives major backing

14 January 2019 - 8:43pm -- seltime-editor

The Wireless Networking Group at IMDEA Networks, led by the Institute’s Research Director Dr. Joerg Widmer, has received major financial backing to pursue a new communication paradigm for future very high speed wireless networks. The Madrid-based team has set itself to explore communication in the extremely high frequency part of the radio spectrum, the millimeter wave band (mm-wave) from 30 to 300GHz, to vastly increase data rates of future wireless and mobile networks.

Putting underused smart devices to work

17 September 2018 - 9:52am -- seltime-editor

There are currently millions of heavily underutilized devices in the World. The storage, networking, sensing and computational power of laptops, smartphones, routers or base stations grows with each new version and product release. Why not put all those extra gigabytes of memory and those powerful processing units to work collaboratively and expand the services available to all of us?

Demonstrating a 5G future

14 August 2018 - 9:24am -- seltime-editor

The 5TONIC co-creation laboratory recently gave an impressive demonstration of future 5G use cases to Julio Linares Lopez, chair of the GSMA’s strategy group and member of its Board. A group of 5TONIC’s senior executives from the member companies attended the event and presented the latest working examples of how 5TONIC is investigating the potential of 5G technology to drive new use cases in vertical markets.
